The Sound of Music

I had the opportunity not too long ago to play my first solo gig in HK. Nearly every spare moment I had in the nine days leading up to the gig I played through six songs, listening intently to how my voice really sounded (and not just how it sounds in my head) and tried hard to keep my strumming tidy.
The night of the show, opening up for the Shotgun She-ra's at Amnesia, my hands were shaking and I was worried that I'd forget the order of the lyrics, as a few tunes were quite new. I'm grateful to have had the support of my friends, particularily Charlie for noticing that I was a tad nervous, and buying me a beer because I couldn't afford one myself.

Anyway, the show went well. I made a load of new friends thanks to the She-ra's and Gabe's dancing and got a few compliments from people whom I didn't even know....which is always nice. (For anyone who hasn't seen Gabe do his thing, then you're definately missing out. It truely is a sight to see)

Since I was practicing so much for this gig long gone, I eased off for the following couple of weeks. Plus, I've only just finished moving from Central to Tai Wai, so now I have far more opportunity to relax and play.

The clock is cutting me short, so I must be off to gather my teaching materials.

The jist of this update is that I'm sitting at work, wishing that I were at home playing guitar. I bought new strings yesterday (they were badly needed) and I'm working on a new song that I'm really enjoying.

take care
